Was directed to buy this by Summit tech support to correct an in-op tacho after fitting a Summit CDI ignition. It seems that Summit don't have a similar tacho adapter for their own product anymore (go figure). Anyway, works great, great build quality and excellent instructions. Another quality MSD product.

Needed for Third gen Firebird/camaro V8 350 w/MSD

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

You need this for your third gen Camaro/firebird when installing a MSD box (MSD Street Fire CD Ignitions 5520 in my case) I have the 350TPI (fuel injected) and after installing this box my car didn't want to start. After reading on various forum I found out that I needed a tach adaptor. I installed this adaptor and the car fired right up the very first time. My tach gauge is working and is accurate too. ...read more

1978 VW Super Beetle Fuel Injection

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I installed an analog 6AL into a stock fuel injected VW 1600, Bosch L-Jetronic. The car needs the high powered primary ignition circuit in order to trigger the fuel injectors. The 8910 does this perfectly in this application. Wired it to the 6AL with the provided instructions and the car fired right back up. I'm very pleased with this part and purchase. ...read more

Tach Adapter needed to make my old tach work.

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Purchased the 8910, did not work. In talking with a tech I discovered that I should have purchased the 8920. I now know the Mopar Electronic Ignition is a Magnetic Pickup unit and if the tach does not work you need the 8920. Just went to the MSN 6AL with the Timing Control #8680 to control my 408 Stroker. I installed the MSN unit in my 1972 Dodge B-300 (Hot Rod)camper van. ...read more

Installed in a 78 280z

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Wiring is really easy, all the wiring and input to the tachometer is at the original wires at the coil. The Tach adapter has its wires pre-wired with a Splitter so you can hook both the MSD box and tach adapter to the same input. No cutting and splicing, nor searching under your dash or tracing wires to get to the tach input. It is easier than you think it is to install this item, don't get overwhelmed by all the instructions or wires, work your way slowly and before you think aout it you will be done. Be sure to look at both MSD box and tach adapter instructions and compare them before you try anything. ...read more
