These MSD Pro-Billet Street distributors are popular routes for people looking for race-proven performance for their street machine. A vacuum advance canister provides improved economy, and the proven MSD mechanical advance mechanism gives you the opportunity to dial in a timing curve to fit your needs. As always, an advance kit of springs and stop bushings is included. The housing features an all-billet 6061-T6 aluminum design for accuracy to within .001 in. An oversized steel shaft is QPQ-coated for low friction, and rides in sealed ball bearings at the top and bottom of the distributor. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom for Chevrolet models. This combination keeps the shaft steady, creating accurate spark delivery at any rpm. They rely on a magnetic pickup to trigger the MSD ignition control, which delivers the powerful sparks to the coil. This pickup is extremely accurate and never needs adjusting. The distributors are CARB E.O. approved for use in all 50 states, and are guaranteed to deliver race-quality performance for your ride. These distributors require the use of a separate ignition box, such as an MSD 6, 7, 8, or 10 Series ignition.

Great upgrade!

I replaced the streetfire system that I've used for a couple of years. I coupled this with their MSD 6AL and Blaster 2 coil. Best upgrade to the ignition system, I wish I would have originally done this rather than suffer through hard starts and rich inefficient fuel burns that were difficult to correct. This system leaned out my AFR readings which to me means it is combusting the fuel more efficiently and making more power. Thumbs up! ...read more

This is a very nice piece with lots of variations to choose from for any application. It was suggested to get the MSD 85551 without the vacuum advance. This model is the exact same thing but with the vacuum advance. It you decide later you don't want the advance just lock it out with the hardware supplied and you have the 85551 model.

Not that happy, purchased this unit to replace one I had previously bought. The first one the pickup went out on ,without many miles on it.I would have just bought a pickup and replaced it,but you still have to pull the distributor to do that. Since I had to go to that trouble,I wanted to get the unit with vacuum advance. I know MSD is supposed to be a good product, so I hope you have better luck than I did. ...read more
