Finally, there's an inexpensive way to make a set of custom spark plug wires. These MSD mini-stripper crimpers provide a "die" to strip either 8mm or 8.5mm wires, and can then be used in a vise to provide a solid terminal crimp to the wire.

This is a good crimper but it said to use it in a vice I found that out in the instructions that came with the tool.I don't have a vice. I'm sure most people don't have one. so I used a c clamp it all went well.

The product doesn't have any instructions, nor does the MSD site (at least not that I could find). After finding a similar product, and figuring out the slight differences on how it works, I was able to use it. The product works great! There is a hole on the one side, that you can place the 8.8 or 7mm wires into, and on the other side, there are 2 marks. you put the wire all the way to the end, for the wires that require you to tuck the wire under, or the mark that is about 1/2 way, that has a double crimp connection. Another tip, is to use needle nose pliers, to bend the tabs on the connector before you put the wire into it, so that it will clamp better. I crimped 4 wires, on both sides... and the tool has some marks on it, but I don't think it wouldn't handle doing another couple of sets of wires. ...read more
